Grayscale matte · MP4
White keeps the subject visible, black hides the background and gray keeps partial opacity. Use this file as a luma matte with the matching source clip in a compositing editor. The MP4 itself does not contain transparency.
Keep the subject. Open up the scene.
Turn an existing video into an editable alpha matte and a transparent ProRes 4444 MOV. Upload a short shot, choose your clip and leave the GPU work to us.

5-second clips at both resolutions, following the official recommendation.
The selected segment must fit within your video. Output is 16:9 at 24 fps; other shapes are fitted with padding.

Actual 512×288 test, 49 frames at 24 fps. One simple shot; this is not a benchmark for hair, smoke or glass.

LTX Alpha Gen is an LTX-2.5 adapter that estimates a grayscale alpha matte from existing footage. On this page, the matte is also combined with your source video to create a transparent ProRes 4444 MOV. The model chooses the foreground automatically; no green screen or written prompt is required.

A black-and-white matte and a video with a real alpha channel serve different jobs. Both are included in the displayed credit price.
White keeps the subject visible, black hides the background and gray keeps partial opacity. Use this file as a luma matte with the matching source clip in a compositing editor. The MP4 itself does not contain transparency.
Your RGB footage and the matte are combined into a ProRes 4444 file with an alpha channel. Place it over a new background in an editor that supports ProRes alpha. The MOV may not play in a web browser.
Upload an MP4 or MOV. A short, continuous shot with a distinct main subject is a useful starting point.
Choose 720p or 1080p for a 5-second clip. Set the starting point and review the credits before processing.
Inspect the matte and composite preview. Download the matte for further refinement or the transparent MOV for compositing.
Foreground selection is automatic. You cannot type a prompt, click a person or upload a mask to choose what stays. Multiple people, occlusions, quick cuts and motion blur can need cleanup. Soft edges are part of the model’s design, but hair, smoke and glass are not guaranteed to be perfect.
Both resolutions use the recommended 121 frames at 24 fps (about 5.04 seconds). The final alignment frame does not add another billed second. No 4K output or automatic long-video stitching.
Pay per clip from your purchased balance. The price covers processing, the matte, the transparent export and storage delivery. A subscription is not required; one-time credit packs are available.
| Output | Clip length | Total credits |
|---|---|---|
| 720p | 5s | 44 |
| 1080p | 5s | 71 |
Check pack balances before buying: the $5 trial contains 24 credits, which does not cover an Alpha Gen clip at the current price.
Get creditsOur sample tests on 6 October 2026 took about 3 minutes at 720p and 8 minutes at 1080p for a 5-second matte. GPU startup, the queue and transparent-video export add time. These are sample timings, not a completion-time guarantee.
Yes. This tool handles the model workflow in the cloud when generation is available. You upload footage in your browser and download the result; no local GPU or ComfyUI setup is needed.
The ProRes 4444 MOV includes an alpha channel. The matte MP4 is a separate grayscale guide. The browser preview has a baked checkerboard so you can inspect the cutout; it is not the transparent master.
No. This Alpha Gen release estimates the foreground automatically and accepts neither a text instruction nor an input mask to select a particular subject. Use a manual selection or rotoscoping tool when that control is essential.
The model is designed to estimate soft and partially transparent edges. Results still depend on the shot. Review those areas frame by frame and expect possible cleanup; our displayed example does not demonstrate every difficult material.
This hosted tool uses purchased credits and shows the total before you run it. Signup and gift credits are not accepted here. The linked Hugging Face community demo is a separate service with its own availability and quotas.
Use the ProRes 4444 MOV in an editor that supports alpha, or use the grayscale MP4 as a luma matte against the matching source segment. Keep the same timing, 24 fps and fitted 16:9 dimensions. Check your editor’s alpha interpretation if edges appear dark.
Choose a 5-second segment at 720p or 1080p. This follows the official recommendation of up to 121 frames at 24 fps. The model card allows up to 145 frames (about 6 seconds), but official guidance notes reduced reliability beyond 121 frames. Upload 5–60 seconds to select your segment. There is no 4K output or automatic long-video stitching.
A confirmed failed job returns its charged credits once. If a submission response is interrupted, the job is checked before it is retried or refunded, so the same request cannot start duplicate paid runs.
