Head Bop Animation Maker

A head bop animation (headbop, head bob) is the TikTok edit where a picture's head nods hard on every beat of a slowed phonk track. Upload one to four photos, pick a routine, and the AI makes the headbop with its own beat — no cutting out, no keyframes.

What is a head bop animation?

A head bop animation is a short looping edit in which a picture's head nods and tilts on every beat of a slowed phonk or Brazilian funk track while the body stays almost still. On TikTok it is mostly made by hand: creators cut an anime character, a cat or a friend out of a picture, put the pivot at the neck and keyframe one nod per beat in CapCut or Alight Motion. Head bop, headbop, head bob and head bobbing all name the same move. An AI head bop maker skips the cutting and keyframing: you give it a photo and a routine, and it animates the whole clip.

Here a 10-second head bop on Seedance 2.0 Mini at 480p costs 17 credits (about $0.47 on the Studio monthly plan); prices run from 9 to 521 credits across models, lengths and resolutions.

Where the head bop trend came from, and which songs it uses

There is no single original video. The trend grew out of anime and meme editors sharing tutorials, and it spread as people asked for “credit me if you use it” edits of their favourite characters.

  • Tutorials first. From August 2026 creators posted step-by-step videos; a YouTube tutorial on making a head bop animation in CapCut and Alight Motion, published on 12 August 2026 with a Blue Lock character, had about 145,000 views by mid-October.
  • Templates next. CapCut published head bop templates such as “Headbop - Trend” (22 September 2026) and “Head Bop Animation” (28 September 2026); on 14 October 2026 its most-used “headbop” template showed about 985,600 uses.
  • Characters everywhere. Google suggests the trend with Gojo, Yuji and Yuta (Jujutsu Kaisen), Goku, Naruto, Shidou (Blue Lock), Springtrap (Five Nights at Freddy’s) and Hetalia’s France, and TikTok is full of cat versions.
  • The sound. Head bop posts use slowed phonk and Brazilian funk: their captions name tracks such as Baixo Cristal Teclas (Slightly Slow), Montagem Mythical, Automotivo Angelical V4 and Aurora Teclas. One viral post jokes about “how it feels seeing an edit with this audio”.
  • People do it for real too. Some creators perform the routine themselves in front of a curtain — lean back, point at the lens, shrug, nod — which is what the Curtain routine here recreates from a photo.

How to make a head bop animation with AI

Three steps, about five minutes including the wait.

  1. 01

Pick a routine and add your photos

Choose the curtain routine, the shades pose edit, the lineup or the green-screen sticker, or tap Random for another setting. Add one to four photos: you, friends, family, pets or a drawn character.

  2. 02

Check the prompt, model and frame

The routine is already written in the prompt box; change the setting or the moves if you like. Seedance 2.0 Mini is selected by default; pick another model, the length (5, 10 or 15 s), the resolution and 9:16, 1:1 or 16:9. The price is on the button.

  3. 03

Make it, download it, add the sound

Credits are charged when the video starts and refunded if it fails. Download the MP4 from the result or from Creations, then post it and pick the trend sound in TikTok, Reels or Shorts.

The routines, explained

Each card only swaps the prompt; your photos, model and settings stay the same.

  • Curtain routine. The real-life headbop: in front of a plain curtain, a deep lean back, a snap upright with a finger at the lens, a wide shrug, then a hard nod on every beat. With two to four photos they do it side by side, in sync.
  • Shades pose edit. Everyone gets black wraparound sunglasses and the clip cuts on every beat to a new deadpan pose: arms folded, peace sign, pointing at the lens, fist up, a slow tilt over the shades.
  • Lineup. Up to four cut-out heads in a row on a dark background; the camera glides along and each head bops in turn, then all of them together. The favourite for cats, dogs and family photos.
  • Sticker on green. Closest to the hand-made edit: your photo or drawing becomes a flat sticker on #00FF00 green, the body stays still and only the head pivots at the neck. Key out the green in CapCut and put it on any background.
  • Random setting. Moves the curtain routine to another place: an underground car park, a kitchen at night, a rooftop at sunset or a laundromat.

How to make a head bop animation in CapCut or Alight Motion

The hand-made way gives you the exact original picture and full control. Budget 20 to 60 minutes for your first one.

  1. 01

    Cut the character out

Remove the background from your picture (CapCut’s Remove background, or a drawing app). Then make a second copy and erase everything but the head, so the head and the body are two layers.

  2. 02

Stack the layers and set the pivot

Put the head layer above the body. Move its anchor (pivot) point to the base of the neck — this is what makes the head bop instead of sliding around.

  3. 03

Add the sound and mark the beats

Import the track and add a marker on every kick drum, using the editor’s beat markers or by tapping along. Use the table below to check the spacing.

  4. 04

    Keyframe one nod per beat

On each marker, set a keyframe with the head rotated 8–15° forward or to one side and moved a few pixels down; two to four frames later, set it back to rest. Alternate left and right, and use an ease-out curve so the snap feels sharp.

  5. 05

    Add the extras and loop

Optional: a blink on a separate eye layer, a moving arm, a glow or a light shake on the accents. Build a 3–5 second loop and duplicate it to the length of the clip.

  6. 06

    Export vertical

Export 1080 × 1920 (9:16) at 30 fps. Keep the sound in the file or add it from the platform’s sound library when you post.

Beat spacing: how many frames per nod

One nod per beat. Frames per beat = 60 ÷ BPM × frame rate. Slowed phonk usually sits between 90 and 130 BPM.

BPMSeconds per beatFrames per beat at 30 fpsFrames per beat at 24 fps
900.6720.016.0
1000.6018.014.4
1100.5516.413.1

1300.4613.811.1
1400.4312.910.3
1500.4012.09.6

If the spacing is a fraction, alternate the rounded values (for example 14 and 15 frames at 124 BPM) so the nods do not drift off the beat over a long clip.

AI head bop vs CapCut template vs keyframing by hand

All three make a headbop; they differ in time, control and how close the result stays to the original picture.

Head bop problems and how to fix them

The most common complaints about AI head bops, with the change that usually helps.

ProblemWhat to change
The nods are not on the beatKeep the generated sound when you post, or pick a trend sound with a similar tempo and nudge the clip so the first nod lands on the first kick. Shorter clips (5–10 s) drift less. For an exact match to one song, keyframe by hand using the beat table above.
The face changesUse a sharp, front-facing photo with even light and no sunglasses; keep the “exactly as in the photo” line in the prompt; try Seedance 2.5 or Seedance 2.0 Pro.
Hair or eyes warpAsk for smaller moves (“a small nod”, “a slight tilt”) and a static camera; use the Sticker template for drawn characters; choose 720p or higher.
Blurry resultUpload a larger photo (at least 1024 px on the short side), crop it to the person or pet, and pick 720p or 1080p.
Faces merge in a groupUpload one photo per person or pet instead of one group photo, and use the Lineup routine; the prompt keeps every photo separate.
The movement looks roboticAdd a small smirk, blinking and a slight shoulder bounce to the prompt; the real-life Curtain routine reads more natural than a stiff sticker.

A head bop prompt you can use in other AI video tools

Image-to-video tools with an image reference and sound (Seedance, Kling, Runway and others) understand this structure: who, where, the moves in order, the beat, and what to keep.

Use the photo as the only source of the person’s face, hair and outfit, unchanged. They stand in front of a plain dark curtain, knees up in frame, vertical 9:16, 10 seconds. To a slowed phonk beat with heavy bass, every move on the kick: lean back with the chin up and one palm out; snap upright and point at the lens; shrug with open palms while the head bobs side to side; then a hard nod forward on every beat with a small smirk. Feet planted, static camera, one continuous shot. No text, no logos, no watermark.

Which photos make the best head bop

  • One subject per photo. For a group, upload each person or pet separately; group photos make faces merge.
  • Face and neck visible. The head pivots at the neck, so a photo cropped at the chin bops badly.
  • Sharp and well lit. Front-facing, no heavy filters, at least 1024 px on the short side if you have it.
  • Pets facing the camera. A cat or dog looking at the lens keeps its face; side profiles drift more.
  • Drawn characters with clean outlines. Anime and manga art works best as a high-resolution panel with one character; use the Sticker template to keep it flat.

Sound, characters and other people’s photos

  • The sound. The beat in your video is generated, not the trending song. To use the trend sound, add it from TikTok’s, Instagram’s or YouTube’s own library when you post, which handles the licence.
  • Anime and cartoon characters. Fan edits of characters you do not own are fine for personal posts on most platforms, but not for ads or merchandise; credit the original artist when you use fan art.
  • Friends and family. Ask before you post a head bop of someone else, especially for a birthday surprise that will be public.
  • Celebrities. Do not make videos of real public figures that could pass as real or suggest an endorsement.

Head bop animation FAQ

Where did the head bop trend come from, and what song is it?

There is no single original video. Head bop animations spread on TikTok from August 2026 through CapCut and Alight Motion tutorials and anime fan edits, then CapCut templates in late September. There is no one song either: posts use slowed phonk and Brazilian funk such as Baixo Cristal Teclas (Slightly Slow), Montagem Mythical, Automotivo Angelical V4 and Aurora Teclas.

Can I make a head bop animation for free, without a watermark?

By hand, yes: CapCut’s editor and Alight Motion are free, though Alight Motion’s free exports carry its watermark. Here a free account can generate, with a moving tryh3.com watermark; any purchase removes it. A 10-second head bop on Seedance 2.0 Mini at 480p costs 17 credits (about $0.47), and prices start at 9 credits.

Why is my head bop not on the beat, and how do I fix it?

AI video models write the beat and the motion together, so they line up with the generated sound but not with a song you add later. Keep the generated sound, or slide the clip so the first nod sits on the first kick of your song and keep it short. For a frame-exact match, keyframe by hand: frames per beat = 60 ÷ BPM × frame rate.

Can I make a head bop animation with my cat or my whole family?

Yes. Add up to four photos, one person or pet each, and pick the Lineup routine: the heads stand in a row and bop one by one, then together. A single pet photo works with every routine.

Can I do the head bop inside TikTok or CapCut instead?

CapCut has ready head bop templates and the keyframe tools to build one yourself; TikTok’s own effects do not make a picture head bop on their own. Make the clip in CapCut, Alight Motion or here, then add the sound and post in TikTok.

How do I keep the face the same in an AI head bop?

Use one sharp, front-facing photo per subject, keep the prompt’s “exactly as in the photo” line, ask for small moves and a static camera, and pick Seedance 2.5 or Seedance 2.0 Pro if Mini drifts.

Can I use an anime character or a celebrity photo?

A drawn character is fine for a personal fan edit — use the Sticker template to keep it flat, and do not use it in ads. Do not use photos of real celebrities or of people who have not agreed to it.

What does “headbop edit” mean?

A headbop edit is a short video in which a cut-out picture’s head nods on every beat, usually to slowed phonk. Comments like “the headbop animation is peak” are praising how cleanly the nods hit the beat.
